In a celebration of maritime heritage, inclusion, and friendship, two iconic Italian ships came together this week at the Port of Piraeus, each representing a different mission but sharing the same enduring spirit of the sea.

Marking the occasion of an official visit by the Italian Ambassador to Greece, Costa Cruises’ Costa Fascinosa welcomed a symbolic rendezvous with Nave Italia, a sailing brig dedicated to educational and inclusive projects aimed at empowering individuals through life at sea.

The meeting underscored Italy’s rich naval tradition and its modern-day evolution into a platform for cultural exchange and social impact.

Representing Costa Fascinosa during this meaningful exchange were:

Captain Fabio Bramato

Safety Officers Alessandro Causo and Marco Capotosto

International Hostess Marie Ernstberger

The two crews spent time aboard each other's vessels, sharing maritime knowledge, safety practices, and a sense of camaraderie forged on the open water. The program included an exchange of crests, a celebratory toast, and moments of reflection between the two captains—underscoring the common values of professionalism, respect, and mutual learning.

“This wasn’t just a ship visit—it was a meeting of minds and missions,” said a Costa Cruises representative. “Our crew is proud to have taken part in such a unique encounter that highlights both the power of tradition and the importance of inclusivity at sea.”

Costa Fascinosa, a symbol of Italian excellence in the cruise sector, and Nave Italia, a beacon for social and educational inclusion, each brought their identity to the portside gathering—leaving with strengthened ties and shared inspiration.

The Italian Ambassador praised the initiative, calling it “a powerful reminder of how seafaring heritage continues to unite and uplift people across borders.”
