Aroya cruise
We are 1500 crew onboard the startup cruise line called Aroya Cruises from Saudi Arabia, operated by Columbia Cruise Services.
Since the inauguration on December 16th, the situation and living conditions for the crew are getting harder and more uncomfortable.

Prices in the crew bar are getting higher a can of soda costs $2.50, even a bottle of water costs $1, and $12 for a pack. No promotion, no discount, and you can only get it between 6 PM and 1 AM. Five refilling stations have been under maintenance for more than a month, so you have no choice but to buy.

Food quality is bad we never had pizza or burgers in the crew mess. Night shift workers have very limited meals with poor quality.
They gave away expired soda just because it expired.

We used to get 50% off in specialty restaurants so at least we could get a nice meal once a cruise. They raised the prices and reduced the discount to 20% since they noticed crew were spending in the restaurant.

Recently, they decided to reduce 50% of the crew due to business strategy changes. Every cruise there are more than 200 crew disembarking dismissal or termination no return date provided to any crew on the 5/09/2025 without prior notice

No commission structure in any department.
The only incentive is when you get a guest to book in any specialty restaurant, you get a free shawarma sandwich and soda shame.

The worst decision I took was resigning from my previous company to join them.
Crew onboard Aroya Cruises are suffering from bad conditions and poor management treatment

I would like to share some observations regarding Aroya Entertainment Management during the recent cruise. During the first voyage, the cruise director, surprisingly had no prior experience working on a ship. His inability to communicate effectively with guests and his harsh treatment of the crew—resembling military discipline—led to over 40 complaints. After a hearing where he apologized, he took a vacation.

Most of the cruise staff and activities team are Moroccans, who truly are the heart of the ship and beloved by the guests. However, when he returned onboard in August 2025, he reportedly began to take revenge by dismissing many Moroccans from various departments. Additionally, the HR team, which has a questionable reputation, seems to be aligning with management to decide who stays and who goes—especially as the ship struggles financially with reduced revenue.

It's concerning to see the negative impact on crew morale and the overall atmosphere onboard. Social media reveals that life on board is quite chaotic. It appears that Cruise Saudi needs to step in and take charge of managing the ship more effectively. Currently, it feels like the ship is heading nowhere, and the management from Colombia seems to be guiding it in the wrong direction.
